AfterShokz Not Charging (Try These Tips!)

My friend has been using AfterShokz for a few months. He had not faced any problem until one day when his headphone was not charging. 

I did the research for him to fix this problem. 

So, if your AfterShokz is not charging, don’t worry; here is why it is not charging and how you can fix it.

Aftershokz Not Charging

If your AfterShokz is not charging, it could be due to a damaged magnetic charging cable, dirty charging connectors, software glitches and a damaged battery. To fix this problem, replace your charging cable, clean charging connectors, reset your headphones and replace it.

To understand how to perform everything, such as resetting or cleaning, read on.

Try Another Magnetic Charging Cable

First, try another magnetic charging cable (you can buy from Amazon) to charge your AfterShokz headphones. 

Because the charging cable is the only way to give power to headphones, most of the time, due to a damaged charging cable, headphones are not charging. 

So, if your AfterShokz is charging with the new cable, then your old cable is faulty. 

However, if your headphones are still not charging, read the following fixes.

Clean Charging Connectors

You have tried the new charging cable, and the problem still persists. The next thing you can do is clean the charging connectors of the headphones and the charging cable. 

You will need sandpaper, and soft earbuds brush to clean dirt. To clean them, rub the sandpaper on the connectors of the headphones and then remove dirt with the brush. 

Also, clean the charging cable the same way after cleaning; plug the charging cable and see if the headphones begin charging or not.

Reset AfterShokz

If your AfterShokz is still not charging, then you should reset them. Because sometimes they are not charging due to software glitches. 

And the best way to remove glitches is resetting headphones. 

So, reset your AfterShokz with the following steps.

• Turn off your headphones by pressing the Volume + button for 3 to 5 seconds.
• Then enter the headphones into pairing mode by pressing the Volume + button for 5 to 7 seconds. Your headphones will turn on, and the LED indicator will flash red and blue.
• Then press and hold the multifunction, Volume + and Volume – buttons simultaneously for 3 to 5 seconds.
• Turn off your AfterShokz, and now it is successfully reset.

After resetting the headphones, check whether or not they begin charging; if not, then perform a reset two to three times.

Fully Discharged 

If your AfterShokz is fully discharged, they will take more time to charge. 

So, in this case, you should at least charge them for 1 to 2 hours, whether their LED indicator is flashing or not. 

Because, in this case, their LED indicator will flash after getting charged for a few hours.

Temperature Problem

If your headphones are overheated or cooled, then they won’t charge. 

Because headphones have a standard operating temperature outside of which they will not work to prevent any damage to the device. 

So, in this case, you will need to bring their temperature to normal or wait until it comes to standard temperature and then plug the charger into your headphones. 

They will begin charging.

Faulty Battery

If none of the above methods works for you. Then your headphone’s battery is faulty, due to which they are not charging. 

When the battery is damaged, it will not hold the charge, and as a result, your headphones won’t come to life. 

So, in this case, the only solution that comes to mind is to change their battery. However, unfortunately, you can’t change your AfterShokz battery.

If none of the above troubleshooting tips helps, reach out to AfterShokz and chat with their experts. 

However, you can also return or replace your AfterShokz if they are under warranty. 

Typically AfterShokz gives 2 years warranty. So, I would recommend you replace them. In my friend’s case, we also returned and got a new pair. 

You can claim a warranty on the AfterShokz official site. However, if you have bought from a local store, you can ask him for a replacement.

How Do I Know If My AfterShokz is Charging?

When you plug the charging cable into your headphones, its LED indicator will flash red if it is charging. However, the LED will not light up if AfterShokz is not charging. In this case, read the above troubleshooting tips.

Can You Overcharge AfterShokz?

You should not overcharge your AfterShokz because it will damage the battery of your headphones. And also, the battery of these headphones cannot be replaced. So, don’t plug the charger into your headphones for a night.

Does AfterShokz Have a Lifetime Warranty?

No, AfterShokz doesn’t have a lifetime warranty. You will only get a 2 years warranty on your AfterShokz headphones.
