I love my Onn earbuds due to their sound quality and comfort. I have been using them for a few weeks and they are working fine.
However, yesterday when I plugged them they were not charging.
Instead of throwing them away, I researched online and found ways to fix their charging problem.
So, if your Onn wireless earbuds are not charging, try the troubleshooting described below.
Onn Wireless Earbuds Not Charging
If your Onn wireless earbuds are not charging it could be due to dirt on charging poles of the earbuds and pins of the case, software glitches, incorrect placement of buds in the case, overheating, damaged case pins, faulty charging cable or adapter and damaged battery of the case. To troubleshoot this you will need to clean the earbuds and pins of the case, reset your earbuds, correctly place buds in the case, wait until temperature normalize, replace charging cable or adapter and replace case’s battery.
Let’s take a closer look at every reason and try possible solution of it.
1. Clean Onn Earbuds and Charging Case
In most common cases, Onn earbuds will not charge because of dirt and earwax on their charging poles and their charging case pins.
Due to the regular use of earbuds, dirt and earwax will accumulate on the charging poles.
Also, dirt on charging case pins will prevent current flow from the case to the earbuds. As a result, your Onn earbuds will not charge.
To fix this problem:
- Clean your Onn earbuds charging poles or contacts and their charging case pins. You will need a cotton cloth, swab, and rubbing alcohol to clean your earbuds.
- For cleaning, pour a little rubbing alcohol on the cotton cloth and carefully clean the earbud’s charging poles and charging case pins.
- Wipe the dirt with a dry cotton cloth.
- Make sure you have properly removed dirt from earbuds and their charging case.
- Put earbuds in the charging case and see if they are charging or not.
2. Reset Earbuds
Reset your Onn earbuds to fix their charging problem.
Because reset is always the one solution to fix minor problems from earbuds.
Therefore you should reset your Onn earbuds.
Follow the below steps to reset your Onn earbuds.
- Unpair your earbuds and remove them from your device pairing list.
- Take both buds out of the case.
- Turn off your Onn earbuds.
- Press and hold their power button for more than 10 seconds.
- Release the button when the LED indicator starts blinking Blue and Red.
- Your Onn earbuds are reset.
Now put your earbuds in the charging case and see if they start charging or not.
3. Properly Place in the Charging Case
Sometimes your Onn earbuds will not charge because they are not correctly placed in the charging case.
When earbuds are not properly placed in the charging case, their charging poles will not connect to case pins.
That’s why they will not charge.
Mostly your Onn earbuds will not properly sit in charging because of wrongly placed ear tips. And because of the decrease in magnetic attraction between buds and the case.
As time passes, the magnetic attraction decrease, so you can’t fix that.
However, ensure ear tips are correctly placed on earbuds and the earbuds charging poles connect to the charging case pins.
Hopefully, after fixing these small mistakes, your earbuds will begin charging.
4. Maintain Temperature of Earbuds
In extreme cold or hot temperatures, your Onn earbuds can stop charging. Because they have lithium-ion batteries that stop working in extreme temperatures.
So, if you have been using your earbuds in a sauna, steam room, or cold temperature. Due to that, they had stopped charging.
Therefore first, bring your Onn earbuds temperature back to normal, or we can say room temperature.
Place your earbuds in the room for 2 to 3 hours. After that, try to charge your earbuds.
5. Check Charging Case Pins
Sometimes Onn earbuds will not charge because of the damaged pin of the charging case.
If one of the pins of the charging case will not be the same in height, it will not connect to the charging poles of the earbuds.
As a result, your Onn earbuds will not charge. Therefore you should fix the charging case pins to fix the charging problem.
If your charging case pins are damaged, the best thing is to go to a technician. Because he can easily fix them.
6. Update Firmware
In rare cases, Onn earbuds can stop charging because of outdated firmware.
However, you should update the firmware. Because it will eradicate many minor glitches from your earbuds and increase their performance.
7. Faulty Charging Cable or Wall Adapter
If your earbuds are not charging after trying the above troubleshooting steps. Then maybe your earbud’s charging cable or wall adapter is faulty.
Because of that faulty charging cable or wall adapter, your charging case is not charging, resulting in your earbuds not charging.
The first thing that you should do is plug the charging cable into the case and see its LED indicator. If it is flashing, then your charging cable is not faulty.
However, if your charging case LED is not flashing, the charging cable or wall adapter is faulty. Try another wall adapter with the current charging cable; if that doesn’t work, try a different charging cable with the present wall adapter.
In this way, you will figure out which thing is causing the issue. So, buy that thing (charging cable or wall adapter) a new one.
8. Damaged Charging Case Battery
If neither of the above things works for your Onn earbuds. Then maybe your earbud’s charging case or its battery is damaged.
Because of that, it is not supplying enough power to charge earbuds.
Most charging cases will damage if you drop them on a hard floor or expose it to water. Moreover, the charging case battery will damage if you expose it to extreme heat (such as in a sauna or steam room) or cold.
If you think these things have been done recently with your earbuds or their charging case. Then replace their battery.
You can replace the charging case battery, but you will need to go to a technician. Because replacing the battery at home will be really difficult for you.
You can also buy new charging case. If you don’t want to mess up things.
